Appalachian Institute of Healing Arts, Inc. was established in 2004 as a massage therapy training program to provide cutting edge education to serious massage students. We offer individualized attention to our students and meet all requirements set forth by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, as well as the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Anyone graduating from our 500 or 600 hour program is eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam. Our educational program covers all the necessary basics, and our specialty focus is on the theory and techniques of clinical and medical massage. Our staff stays updated on current trends, and we adjust our training goals as we deem necessary. We believe in a holistic way of approaching education and teach our students the importance of not only working with the body, but being sensitive to the mind, emotions, and spirit. This approach is central to our program and we believe is crucial for success. It is critical to have excellent massage therapy skills, excellent business skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. We encourage all our students to refine their strengths and to become aware of areas for improvement.
